If you can't get the child you are looking after to clean up, play a game that helps them tidy up AND have fun. I got the idea from a babysitting book when I got my license from the Red Cross. Here is how the game works: you get any hair piece that is sparkly and put it on their head. You tell them that they are the clean queen and they get to tell you three things to pick up and then it's your turn to be the queen.

It works really well for the child I babysit. As a matter of fact, when I come to babysit she demands we play it before her mom gets home.
