Ten-year-old designs rock-inspired tees
When she’s not designing T-shirts, Megan can be found practicing gymnastics, shopping and swimming. Watch out world – Love Gone could be the next big thing.
GL talks with Megan to learn what goes into creating a fashion line, what inspires her and more.
GL: Can you tell me about your T-shirt line?
Megan: I came up with the company about a year ago and it’s taken about a year to make the line.
GL: What inspires your designs?
My friends. I know their style, and I know a lot of people like their style, so I try to go from there. I wanted the company to have something to do with love, so I came up with the name “Love Gone.”
GL: Do you design the prints? How?
I design them, test them on shirts and then order the shirts in bulk. I draw them on paper. Right now there is only one main design, but I’m working on a new one right now. It involves a broken heart with the words “Love Gone.”
GL: Do you have a website?
You can find the T-shirts at lovegoneapparel.com. It tells you about the company and you can also shop online.
GL: Where do you like to shop? What do you like to wear?
My three main stores are: Hollister California, Aeropostle and American Eagle. I’m often inspired by what I see.
GL: How do you see your business growing in the future?
I think this is going to be a very successful company – I hope one day we’ll be in magazines. Hopefully we’ll eventually move onto jeans and jackets.
GL: What’s the most fun part of Love Gone?
There are two fun parts: One is designing, and second is waiting for the shirts to come in and see the finished product.
GL: Do you see yourself in fashion when you’re older?
I love fashion, and want to go into it when I’m older. I want this to be a really successful company. I want to stick with designing.
