Your Bod

6 stretches to do at your desk while you're studying

Sitting at your desk for hours poring over your algebra textbook is not only mentally exhausting, it's physically draining, too. After all, your bod does *not* like being stuck in the same position for long periods of time. But that's not an excuse not to do your homework or prep for that test (obviously). Instead, try these stretches on your next study break to say "see ya" to stiffness and feel re-energized in seconds.

For your back...

Sit straight up, slightly arching your back. Then, slowly round your back, starting from the top of your spine. Repeat. (If you're a yogi, think of this as a seated cat-cow pose.)

Twisting from side to side is a great way to relieve pressure from your spine so you'll sit straighter (and stop soreness).

For your shoulders...

Try this overhead stretch. Just reach each arm up and over (this is great for your obliques, too).

Then repeat the above exercise with *both* arms towards the sky.

For your legs...

Toe touches aren't just for the floor anymore. Mimic the movement by extending your toes out in front of you and folding forward from your hips. You'll feel it in your hamstrings and calves the most.

For your hips...

Sit with both feet on the floor, then cross your left ankle over your right knee in a figure 4 position. You can stay here or bend forward to really deepen your stretch. Repeat on the other leg.
