MAKE IT CUTE

Room

Here's how to revamp your room aesthetic

New year, new bedroom: We've all spent hours scrolling through room inspo on Pinterest (which is only feeding into our cutesy room dreams). And as cute as your bedroom might be already, it may be time to give it a refresh. Lucky for you, we've put together some tips on how to give your space a whole new look.

Color scheme

@dormify

A great way to freshen up your room is setting a color scheme. The best part? There are endless options! You can stick to warm colors like oranges and yellows to create a cozy vibe (we love an earth-toned palette). For beachy vibes, stick to blues and whites. Our fave? Going all pink to bring out that inner Barbie.

Looking for all-over color? Paint the walls and make 'em pop—or go for white walls and let your colorful decorations and bedding do the talking (psst: this option is great if you like to change up your color scheme every so often).

Photo collages

Desert Dreamer Boho Aesthetic Wall Collage Kit, $24

Make it cute *and* make it personalized with a Polaroid collage—or craft a DIY collage using pics of you and your BFFS, magazine cutouts and inspiring quotes. We know what we're adding to the agenda for the next girls' night...

You could also opt for a wall collage kit full of aesthetic pics. These typically come in color schemes, so you can pick the one that best matches your room's vibe. Bonus: These collages make great backdrops for cute pics!

Cute seating options

@saltandstoneco

Every bedroom needs a place to sit, whether it be for reading, doing HW or watching TikToks. Why not choose a cute chair that is both cozy and fun? Try a cool hanging chair, a simple yet cozy chair or some beanbag chairs for your besties to lounge around on. Don't forget to have cute pillows and blankets nearby to snuggle up.

Lighting

@sansa25787

Lighting is everything when it comes to making your room a haven. Opt for LED fairy lights or strips to add a warm, cozy glow to your space. (Oh, and color-changing LED lights are perfect for any room aesthetic depending on the color scheme you envision!) Wrap them around your bed frame, drape them across your bookshelves or create a twinkling canopy across the entirety of a blank wall.

Want something more low-key? Bring the hues of dusk indoors with a sunset lamp for a softer glow. These lamps create a serene ambiance that's perfect for winding down and curling up in bed. Place it on your nightstand or desk for an instant mood lift, and you've got the golden hour vibes right at your fingertips.

If you're looking for something a bit more minimalist and want a pop of decor to tie your room together, grab a flowery lamp or a salt lamp for a simpler twist to your space.

Furniture arrangement

@bedroomdesign

Let's talk arrangement: Channel your interior designer and experiment with the layout of your room (it'll make it feel like a whole new space, trust.). Consider creating cozy nooks for reading or studying (around your desk and by your bookshelf), or arrange your furniture to maximize space.

Maybe an accent chair would look stunning by your window instead of tucked away in the corner, or maybe taking down your shelves and adding a sturdier bookshelf would offer a fresh perspective. Don't be afraid to mix it up—a new layout can breathe new life into your space!

Plants and accessories

@plantsaddict1990

Plants are the secret decor weapon. (And you don't have to be a plant mom to make this cute aesthetic work!) Invest in some cute fake plants or succulents to sprinkle around your space. Place them on shelves, desks or hang them in macramé planters. Looking for something a bit less green? Try taking mini floral stems and arranging your own fake bouquets in miniature vases for a pop of color. They add a touch of nature without the commitment of watering—a win-win, if you ask us.
