In the News: Get more sleep to drop pounds...
Staying up
late at night only affects how long you sleep in for, right? Think
again, girlies, TIME magazine's Meredith Melnick says otherwise.
It may seem harmless to catch up on those Pretty Little Liars and Gossip Girl
re-runs past your bedtime, but facts show that this may not be the
case. Word is that slipping up when it comes to getting your zzz's could
be encouraging childhood obesity. How? Those night owls spend at least
30 more minutes a day with sedentary behaviors than their early bird
counterparts.
A recent study by the journal Sleep followed the days of 2,200
children aged 9-16 and recorded their weight, how they spent their time
and the amount of sleep they got each night. Those of you that prefer
the wee hours were three times more likely to be missing your daily
activity. And we all know what those lazy days can bring about...
To keep your health in check, growing girls should be getting at least
eight hours of sleep every night. So, tonight, click off that trusty
television and stock up on sleep. You'll get a burst of energy come
morning.
Could this be a culprit to America's tricky weight problem or is it just total gossip? Tell us what you think, babes.
