10 Things I Hate About You (1999)
If you ask any girl what she loves most about this classic ’90s film, it’ll probably be 1) Heath Ledger’s long curly locks and adorable dimples, 2) Julia Stiles’ kick-butt feminist character, Kat, or 3) The fact that when you think it couldn’t get any better, a baby-faced Joseph Gordon-Levitt appears and you literally have no idea what to do with yourself.
-
You’ve Got Mail (1998)
We can’t really explain why You’ve Got Mail is one of the most romantic, lovable chick flicks of all time. It just IS. Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan are completely flawless in this ’90s original that makes us laugh, cry, and love the Internet that much more.
-
Pretty in Pink (1986)
’80s It-girl Molly Ringwald was truly at her finest in this cult classic. For every girl who has ever felt a little strange, confused, or like an outcast, this movie is perfect for you.
-
Girls Just Want to Have Fun (1985)
Besties Janey and Lynne are determined to audition for the chance to be the newest couple on “Dance TV” despite the fact that Janey doesn’t approve. Lots of teen girls squealing, dancing, and going behind their parents’ backs—def a film you want to watch with your besties at a sleepover.
-
Sixteen Candles (1984)
The name Jake Ryan has been making teenage girls swoon for decades. Yes, we all loved Hannah Montana’s on-again-off-again BF Jake Ryan, but Sixteen Candles introduced us to the very first Jake Ryan we ever loved. You think you had the hots for Jake Ryan from Hannah Montana? Ha. Think again. Sixteen Candles’ Jake is ON FIRE. Pun intended.
-
Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961)
Audrey Hepburn had never been more fabulous then when she was in her most famous film, Breakfast at Tiffany’s. The clothes…the writing…the love! This movie embodies everything a GL gal adores.
-
Gone with the Wind (1939)
OK, so this movie is old. Like, REALLY old. But it’s so good that you’ll want to watch it over and over again. The movie is about Scarlett O’Hara, a gorgeous, stubborn, and fiercely independent southern belle, who (like many of us!), is a little boy crazy. After you watch this film, you’ll totally understand why it’s been considered one of the most popular movies of all time.
