Ban on Teen Tanning

Lawmakers are trying to ban anyone under the age of 18 to go tanning unless they have a doctor's note and parental supervision, according to USA Today.

Texas is the first state to propose this law, which would be the strictest law yet on teen tanning. Most states require a parent's permission and even guidance for teens under the age of 16, but the new law could ban teen tanning altogether.

Dermatologists warn that there are many health risks associated with tanning under the UV bulbs in a tanning bed particularly for teens, like a high risk for melanoma, a dangerous form of skin cancer. Small doses of the sunny rays are recommended by doctors to treat some skin conditions, but it is rare and is controlled and monitored by the doc.

We here at GL love the golden goddess look ourselves, which is why we recommend bronzers and self-tanners over indoor tanning any day. Nothing beats the great outdoors, too so when it's sunny lather up with some SPF 30 and the perfect hat to get tan the fun, natural and healthy way.

Blog it out...do you know the risks of indoor tanning? What tips do you have for getting the golden look?
