Taylor Swift is releasing a new single tonight (and it's giving *all* the spooky-meets-summer vibes)
While we anxiously await another re-recording from our fave cat-loving popstar (1989 (Taylor's Version) or Speak Now (Taylor's Version)—we're not picky!), a Taylor Nation Instagram post today filled Swifties everywhere with a little extra joy. The song Taylor wrote for the upcoming film Where the Crawdads Sing, "Carolina," is coming out tonight at midnight EST.
As fans who've read the Delia Owens novel and seen the trailers can tell, Where the Crawdads Sing is all about love and mystery. It's set in the equally mysterious and intriguing landscape of North Carolina. From the previously released clips on Insta, it's clear that Taylor's new song is the cherry on top of this incredible storyline.
OK, so it's definitely not a nod to "Shake it Off", but the song is no "Dear John", either. Could Taylor have a completely different project in store, or is "Carolina" a stand-alone work, like "Beautiful Ghosts" was for Cats? That question remains a mystery, but either way—we heart *anything* Taylor Swift is willing to share with us.
