BTS is taking a hiatus: Here's what we know
Whether you're a tried and true stan or just find yourself jamming to "Butter" in line at Target, you've def heard of BTS, the K-Pop boy band that has taken the world by storm. This past week, the band delivered some surprising news regarding their future. If you haven't had a chance to watch, here's the video that sparked the news. Let's unpack.
OK, so BTS is taking a break, or as they called it, a "hiatus." The word "hiatus" can cause a lot of preemptive panic (any recovering Directioners out there?). However, in this case, the band seems sure that this break is exactly what they need to continue working together. BTS supporters on Twitter also commented on the fact that in the K-pop industry, it isn't uncommon for groups to take breaks.
bts taking a break to focus on themselves is something im never going to complain about.. it could be thousand years and I’ll still be waiting for them with open arms

In a lot of ways, this hiatus is positive for the band members. It allows each of them time to explore their individual creativity in solo projects while still coming together to rally behind their recently released album (Proof) and single ("Yet to Come (The Most Beautiful Moment)"). This is also an opportunity for the band members to complete the military service required in South Korea. So, in a lot of ways, the hiatus is less of a "break," and more of an opportunity to be productive as individuals. Many fans have echoed this idea, choosing to focus on the positives of the situation and highlight what's "good and exciting" about the hiatus.
sad and scary:

• bts hiatus
good and exciting:
• each member can have healing time
• each member can pursue their passions and interests and express themselves fully and independently
• bts solo albums
• bts solo activities
• return of Run BTS
• BTS will return stronger
While it's definitely bittersweet, fans remain confident that this is just a stepping stone in BTS' journey—they're not going anywhere. As for us, we're *so* excited to check out everyone's individual projects!
