Everything you need to know about the cast of The Baby-Sitter's Club
The popular Netflix series The Baby-Sitter's Club takes a modern twist on the original book series with the same name by Ann M. Martin. It's the *perfect* series to binge-watch if you haven't already. We are *so* obsessed with each of the characters in the show, and if you're like us we've been dying to know more about them (I mean how could we not?)
We've *def* done our research and got everything you need to know about your *fave* characters and cast members from The Baby-Sitter's Club.
Sophie Grace as Kristy Thomas
Hometown: Sophie Grace (14) is originally from Philadelphia but is currently living in LA and Jacksonville.
Family life: Similar to her character on the show, Sophie is *very* good with children and people. Mainly because she has *5* siblings ( 3 brothers and 2 sisters) to get along with at home. Not to mention, 2 dogs to take care of as well!
TV/Movies: Other than season 1 of The Baby-Sitter's Club Sophie can be seen in the horror movie Terror in the Woods.
Behind the scenes: Sophie used to read The Baby-Sitter's Club book series when she was younger. So she is very excited to be playing Kristy in the new modernized Netflix series. Not to mention, she feels like Kristy's personality is a perfect portrayal of her own.
Fun facts: Sophie is a plant lover, and in her free time she *loves* to draw. However, acting is where her heart lies, as her love for being on stage started at the early age of 3. Where she performed at local shows, and in school productions. Around the age of 10 is when the *real* acting classes and training began. Another interesting fact is that she had to dye her hair for her role as Kristy.
Malia Baker as Mary Anne Spier
Hometown: Malia (13) was born in Bostwana, Africa, but grew up in Vancouver, Canada, coincidentally where the show was filmed!
Family life: Malia has one younger sister.
TV/Movies: Malia has also appeared in a few other TV shows and movies such as A Million Little Things, The Flash, The Twilight Zone and Hallmark movie Hope at Christmas.
Behind the scenes: Malia feels a close connection to her character Mary Anne in the show. This is because she considers herself to be shy a person deep down, and Mary Anne is more of a timid character on the show. Therefore, helping her to feel like her true self!
Fun facts: Malia is a Hamilton fanatic! She also has a very abstract music taste ranging from The Beatles to Notorious B.I.G.
Momona Tanada as Claudia Kishi
Hometown: Momona (13) was born and raised in Vancouver Canada with Japanese ancestry.
Family life: Momona is an only child, and lives with her mother and father.
TV/Movies: The Baby-Sitter's Club is not the only Netflix series Momona is in. She's also in the sequel to To All the Boys I've Loved Before which GL is *obsessed* with titled, All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You. Where she *slays* as the younger version of Lara Jean. She was also cast as Erica in the Netflix movie The Main Event, AMC's The Terror and Amazon's The Boys.
Behind the scenes: Although Momona has a very busy work life she always finds the time to study when shes not filing for the show. This fall she will be starting in 9th grade in her online school.
Fun facts: Before her acting career started Momona was modeling and competitively dancing at the age of 4. She got to perform in the B.C Summer Games and with the Royal Whinnipeg Ballet. Another amazing talent is that she can speak fluent Japanese! When she's not on stage one of her *fave* pastimes is baking and decorating cakes!
Shay Rudolph as Stacey McGill
Hometown: Shay (14) was born and raised in LA.
Family life: Shay has a sister named Rhys who is two years older than her.
TV/Movies: Other than her role as Stacey on The Baby-Sitter's Club she also had a recurring role in Fox's Lethal Weapon series. She's also seen in The Adventures of Thomasina Sawyer, Less than Zero and Mae.
Behind the scenes: In preparation for her role as Stacey who has Type 1 Diabetes, Shay interviewed teens who live with Type 1 Diabetes. This is so that she could understand what its like to have it, and play her role as accurately as possible! After reading the books, and doing research on all of the characters Shay actually felt like she saw herself most in Claudia. However, she loves playing Stacey!
Fun facts: Shay is a vegetarian, and she is very passionate about animal rights as well as the planet. Before she got big in the TV world, Shay started out doing musical theatre.
Xochitl Gomez as Dawn Schafer

Hometown: Xochitl (13) is from Canada, and currently resides in Canada.
Family life: Xochitl is an only child, but she has tons of cousins that are basically like her brothers and sisters!
TV/Movies: Xochitl is known for her excellent work on Gentefied, obviously The Baby-Sitter's Club, Shadow Wolves, Roped and Interwoven.
Behind the scenes: Xochitl has been reading *all* of The Baby-Sitter's Club books so she can get more familiar with the content. Xochitl knows from reading the books that Dawn is caucasian, now that Xochitl is playing her in the show she is Latina! From reading the books Xochitl feels like she can really relate with Dawn's relaxed personality, and her ability to *always* be that shoulder to cry on for her besties.
Fun facts: In her free time, Xochitl enjoys making friendship bracelets, and binge-watching Beverly Hills 90210! Her first ever role as an actress was in The Little Mermaid the musical when was younger. We'd *love* to see a video of that performance!
Alicia Silverstone as Elizabeth Thomas-Brewer
Hometown: Alicia (43) is from San Francisco, California, but she currently lives in LA.
Family life: Alicia and her ex-husband Christopher Jarecki have a son together named Bear Blu Jarecki who is now 9 years old.
TV/Movies: We have obviously *loved* watching Alicia in her iconic role as Cher in the *hit* movie Clueless that celebrated its 25th anniversary recently. It would be impossible to list *all* of the amazing roles Alicia has had in various TV shows and movies. Some of the most notable are Batman & Robin, Braceface, The Crush, Miss Match, Excess Baggage and Blast from the Past.
Behind the scenes: Alicia really enjoys being apart of the cast of The Baby-Sitter's Club! She had never read the books as a young girl, so some could say she was "Clueless" going into it! She has loved watching the show at home with her son during these uncertain times because it's such an uplifting show.
Fun facts: Alicia won an American Comedy Award in 1996 for being so hilarious in Clueless. Another interesting fact about Alicia is that she is a vegan, and has published a vegan cookbook! Alicia didn't become a pop culture icon immediately, she had to start somewhere. When she first started out she began modeling around the age of 6 for Domino's Pizza!
