4 Easy Ways to DIY Your New Year's Eve Style

Wanna rock your way into 2010 looking oh-so-new but don't have enough moolah to buy a fancy frock or outfit? No worries. We've got some super-fun and easy DIY ways to look bold 'n' beautiful when that ball drops. Make 'em on your own or throw a party with your chicas to craft them together.
Your t-shirt
The Look: A boring white shirt transformed into a cool, chic tee that proudly exclaims your New Year's resolution.
How to DIY: Grab a set of letter stencils and t-shirt paint to write “2010 rocks because …” on the front of blank, white t-shirt. On the back, use your stencil letters again to write, “I am going to [insert your New Year resolution here].” Keep the resolution short and sweet so it all fits—mine is, “I am going to volunteer in my community.” See how the sentence starts on the tee’s front and ends on the back? Everyone will love your enthusiasm for the new year. Plus, it's a great convo starter!
Get the Supplies: Stencils can be a bit pricey, but totally worth it for so many different DIY projects. Think of them as an investment! Try your local arts and crafts store (like Michael’s) for alphabet stencils and t-shirt paint (ask for “puffy” paint, it’s a ton of fun to use!) in your fave colors. Ask the sales associate to help you find the right aisle—those art stores can get big and confusing.
Your face
The Look: It’s makeup with a mission—to show your excitement for the New Year!

How to DIY: Grab some glitter and one black eyeliner pencil. Use the pencil to write “2010” next to your eyes and above the apples of your cheeks. Add some glitter around the edges of your “2010,” making sure it doesn’t cover up the numbers. Cute! Now you've got some shimmery makeup to sport in those fabulous NYE party pics!

Get the Supplies: Wet n’ Wild makes great black eye pencils that cost less than a $1 and you can find 'em at your local drug store. Try Bonne Bell for glitter!
Your nails
The Look: You'll be waving your digits around to celebrate 2010, so make sure your fingers look really fab.
How to DIY: Grab some cute number stickers for nails and maybe a few hearts and stars, too. Then decorate your fingernails with 2010 starting at the pinky on your left hand, and starting with your pointer finger next to your thumb on your right hand. Put a fun non-number sticker, like a star or a heart, on your thumbs. When you go to wish everyone a, "Happy New Year!" at midnight, put your hands up proudly!
Get the Supplies: Visit a Sally Hanson or other beauty supply store for sticker art and jewels. A friendly sales associate should be able to help. Just tell ‘em your idea—they’ll know exactly what you need!
Your jewelry
The Look: Want a more subtle way to show off your 2010 pride? Make a NYE souvenir necklace or bracelet from beads painted with the numbers 2, 0, 1, 0.
How to DIY: Head to the jewelry section of any craft store and start exploring. After finding your fav numbered beads in 2, 0, 1, and 0, the possibilities to personalize are endless! Add some other fun beads to brighten up the necklace—go big and bold so it really stands out at a dark party. After stringing your beads onto the necklace, cut the thread so it rests against your neck like a choker. Or, cut it into a bracelet instead. Everyone will be envious. You could make a few necklaces as NYE gifts for your friends so that they’re not too jealous.
Get the Supplies: Your local arts and crafts store will have all the supplies you need. Hey, you might pick up a new hobby for the new year—jewelry making!
