Actress Abigail Pniowsky is soaking up the sun and the spotlight in her new superhero show

Marvel fans and comic book girlies, listen up. AppleTV+'s brand new superhero story Me just hit screens this past Friday—and it turns out 16-year-old star Abigail Pniowsky is pretty superhuman IRL.

In between chilling by the ocean and prepping for a dance intensive later this summer, Abby sat down to chat with us about Me (which you're about to become obsessed with, BTW—watch the trailer here!), her dance and martial arts talents, her passion for fashion and her best life advice.

Girls' Life: Congratulations on your new show! What do you love about it and what are you hoping the audience will love?

Abigail Pniowsky: [Me] is about a twelve-year-old boy, Ben, going to middle school and discovering he has superpowers. He and my character, Max, have to kind of figure that out together. I really love that this show isn't *just* a superhero show. It also highlights a lot of elements of family, friendship and personal growth.

GL: Who is your ideal audience for the show and for your character? Who are you hoping to really connect to?

Abigail: This show is honestly for everyone. There are a lot of characters who everybody can relate to. With my character, I hope that I can connect to a lot of younger girls finding themselves, but I think that every single character in the show sort of has something people can find themselves in.

GL: That's amazing. You're also starring in the upcoming independent film American Baby. How is acting in a movie different from acting in a TV show?

Abigail: Overall, the process is pretty similar. Usually we film TV shows by episode, but for Me, we actually filmed it on location, which is similar to how we film movies. It was really cool. I kind of had to switch my mindset for each episode, but overall the process is pretty similar.

GL: Did you have a favorite behind-the-scenes moment when filming this show?

Abigail: That's really tough. I really liked filming all the school scenes. Those were fun, especially since I got to connect with the other kids on set, which is something that I haven't done very often. I've never really been in any movies or shows with other kids my age, so I kind of developed my own friend group on set.

GL: Besides acting, you also dance and do martial arts (so cool, by the way!). How do you feel like those activities influence your acting?

Abigail: With dance specifically, you have to be connected with your own emotions. You have to tune into your mindset. And I think that is very similar to acting. When I'm acting, I always say, "Don't act, just feel." I think that understanding your own emotional state is really important for acting and I think that it's the same way onstage if you're performing in dance.

GL: Looking ahead to the future, do you have any big goals or hopes or dreams?

Abigail: Honestly, I just want to go where the wind takes me. I have a lot of hopes for my career and future. I'm really interested in sciences, like marine biology. That sounds awesome. But acting is one of my biggest passions, and I don't think I ever want to give that up, so I feel like I have a lot of paths that I can continue to go on.  I'm gonna go with the flow.

GL: Tell us more about your recent red carpet looks. Is there a specific style or trend that you're leaning into this summer?

Abigail: Yes! I'm really into the classy casual look. I am obsessed with Miu Miu right now. My stylist Tabitha is helping me with all my photo shoots, and she never misses. I love all the outfits she gets. I really like the dress shirt/suit vibes. Something just speaks to me in those looks.

GL: Outside of working, what's on the calendar for this summer?

Abigail: I've been going to the beach a lot with my friends. I enjoy swimming in the ocean. I go super far out. I get sand in my hair, like, a lot. I've been reading a lot of books, relaxing, sketching. I'm doing a dance intensive, so I'm really excited for that. But I've just been chilling, since the year's been pretty crazy.

GL: Do you have any advice for younger girls interested in acting? Or anything you wish you could tell your younger self?

Abigail: For girls trying to get into acting, or just discovering themselves, I think that trusting the people around you is really important. I feel like my friends and my family have always been there for me. I think that you shouldn't try to do things alone, especially as you're growing up. Understand that the people who really love you will have your back and want what's best for you.
