Girl Talk: The Jitters
I always get nervous with things, even when I shouldn’t really be nervous, even if I’ve already done it before, I still get nervous! Any Tips?'

Hey hon,
A little bit of nervousness can actually be a good thing. I totally know how you feel. Even though I’ve been cheering and dancing for years, I still get a little nervous before I perform a routine! The trick is to remain calm, which is often times easier said than done. Ever hear of the saying “Practice makes perfect?” The best way to deal with nervousness is to practice, practice, practice! Even if your mind goes blank, your body will no what to do!
Also, remember to concentrate. It’s easy to lose focus if you’re staring off into space. If you’re giving a speech or presentation, try to look at something above the audience, such as a clock, to maintain eye contact and keep your focus as well. When I perform a cheer or a dance, I try to look for a couple of friendly faces in the audience to ease my nerves. A friend’s smile and encouragement can do wonders for your performance!
Lastly, don’t forget to breathe. You have nothing to fear and you’ll be perfectly fine. A couple of deep breaths and your nervousness will slowly fade away.
Good luck,
