Prepping for "the talk"
Sitting through “the talk” with your parents is pretty much a right of passage. However, since you’ve got the basics down, you really don’t need to initiate a discussion unless you have questions. If you do, that’s OK! You should feel comfortable enough to ask, even if it’s totally awkward.
What to do when…you’ve got a Q
Grab Mom (or Dad, or a trusted adult, or a sibling) and quickly say, “So, my health teacher told us all about periods last year, but I was wondering…” There, done!
What to do when…you just wanna let them know
If the chat was a happened-last-week deal, leave ‘em a sticky note on the fridge (or mention it when they ask how school’s going): “FYI, Ms. Ross talked to us about puberty and periods and things last week.”
