I Left My Heart
My father's house
is full of memories--
playing princess with my sister
drawing chalk mazes on the basement floor
making potions with my friend in the kitchen
My mother's house is new
and smells like paint.
I wake up to sunshine
and fall asleep to stars
and my friends surround me daily
Somewhere in between these two houses,
near where the horses hide behind their fence and the river runs,
I left my heart, because I can't bear to leave it to one
