Paper Things - An original poem

Hey sweeties! We love this poem, written by Kali C., a GL reader just like you. Please leave your critiques in the comments.
Paper Things

The hopes and dreams

Of livings things

Were carried up

On paper wings.

Through the sky,

These pages soared,

Protecting truth from lie

With paper swords.

In the mind

The parchment bloomed

With words so kind,

Paper forms assumed.
Down the rivers

Thin pieces floated,

Keeping safe the givers

Of lights in paper coated.

The death and sorrow –

Sadly carried, black in print –

Would also come were it tomorrow,

But at paper hope they would still hint.

Life is sheltered

Within the scrolls,

Safe and sound,

With paper souls.

All the words

Upon the page,

Were written by non-paper people,

Trapped

within

a

paper

cage.
