How to create a witchy study aura
Grab your cauldrons and broomsticks, gals—bc spooky szn is officially here. As the weather gets chillier and the vibes get witchier, you're going to want a cozy study spot with the right ambiance (and playlist!) to channel Halloween vibes while keeping those grades scary good.
If the witchy academia aesthetic is calling your name, here are some simple ways to create the perfect aura for your study sessions.
The right playlist
Nothing gets us into the Halloween spirit more than seasonal songs. Here's a curated mix of our favorite witchy songs to give your homework time a supernatural glow...
🔮 "Season of the Witch" by Donovan
🌙 "Sisters of the Moon" by Fleetwood Mac
🕸 "Rhiannon" by Fleetwood Mac
🔮 "The Bog" by Shannon and the Clams
🌙 "Spellwork" by Austra
🕸 "Spell of the Heart" by Ava Elay
🔮 "The Weary Blues" by the Wailing Jennys
🌙 "Light of a Clear Blue Morning" by the Wailing Jennys
🕸 "Immortal" by MARINA
🔮 "Love Song for a Vampire" by Annie Lennox
🌙 "Lavender Moon" by Haroula Rose
🕸 "Bella's Lullaby" from the Twilight soundtrack
🔮 "No Rest for the Wicked" by Lykke Li
🌙 "you should see me in a crown" by Billie Eilish
🕸 "Spellbound" by Siouxsie and the Banshees
To give your study space a srsly autumnal ambiance, hang up these fairy lights with cute pumpkins, spiders and bats ($8, Michaels). Turning off all the other lights in the room will let your twinkle lights cast a lovely, witchy glow (just make sure it's not too dark that you can't see your HW!).
Alternatively, a Himalayan pink salt crystal lamp (like this $16 one from Amazon) in a corner or on your desk will give off an orange-pink light for a vibe that's both cozy and Halloween-y.
If you want an even more antique witch aesthetic, lighting your study space with a candle or two will do the trick. Burn this Leaves candle from Bath & Body Works ($18) or the Vampire Blood candle ($27, Bath & Body Works) for something even more creep-tacular.
Now's the perfect time to stock up on throw blankets and pillows for a warm and aesthetic homework zone. If you're reading at your desk or on your bed, look for a witchy pillow (like this one from Etsy, $24). For keeping warm and cozy at your desk, grab a plaid throw blanket, like this fall-colored tartan (Target, $20).
Finally, round out your cute decorations with a witchy mindset shift! When prepping for a big test or making your way through a homework mountain, take a moment to write some sentences about how great you feel now that your work is done.
By writing in the present tense, you just might be manifesting these goals to help them come true. Consider it your own personal spell...
