9 planner tricks to make this your most organized year yet

If you’re anything like us, you’re lost without your planner. You use it to keep track of everything from homework to soccer games to hang seshes with your BFFs. But did you know that people use their planners as more than just a calendar? Check out these tips to help your planner become #goals!

Pick a planner that makes you excited.

After all, you *do* have to look at it every day. We recommend choosing a planner that *actually* makes you excited to head to school! Some planner brands that we love are Lilly Pulitzer, Ban.do and Kate Spade. These colorful options will put a smile on your face even on weeks when you have a ton on your plate.

Color code.

Even if you’re a crazy-busy gal, it’s still super easy to get organized! Pick up a different color pen for each of your classes, any clubs or sports you participate in, and anything else that you like to keep track of in your planner. It’ll look awesome, and you’ll feel *so* much more organized knowing what the week holds at a glance.

Be consistent.
So, you have a cute planner and have come up with a color code, but you'll never be organized unless you actually use it! Remember to write down all of your assignments and events. Trust us, very few things in life are better than crossing things off of your to-do list. Plus, what's the point of purchasing a planner if you never use it?

Track your health goals.
If you’re looking for a way to track your health, why not mark it down in your planner? You can create simple little graphics for things like steps, food water, and exercise like in the photo above, or just jot it down at the end of the day. You could apply this idea to anything you want to keep track of!

Try using washi tape.
Washi tape functions just like regular tape, but looks 100 times cuter. Use it to divide sections in your planner (try using a thin line to separate your schedule from your to-do list) or use it to create lines for a calendar if you use a blank notebook to plan!

Test out a printable.
If you’re new to planning or don’t want to shell out a bunch of cash on a planner, try a free printable from the web! You can tape it into a notebook, hole-punch them into a binder or clip onto a cute clipboard. Many planner companies have websites with free printables that you can test out until you decide which format works best for y-o-u!

Use stickers.
Stickers are no longer only for your little sis. While they look adorable, they can also help you up your organization game. Use ‘em to highlight important events like that huge Bio test or the big dance coming up.

Add a daily pick-me-up.
OK, so this doesn’t really help you stay organized, but it can help boost your mood after a bad day! Add an inspirational quote or a favorite song lyric to each page to help encourage you to get all of your work done. It sounds cheesy, but trust us, it works.

Bite the bullet with a bullet journal.
A bullet journal is essentially the world’s most customizable planner. You can create layouts for anything from your schoolwork to movies you want to watch. This example of a daily page includes everything from the weather to how much sleep you're getting, and has room for a do-to list!
