Dear Carol
Miss Popularity's not so popular anymore
In my old school, I was popular. Since I’ve moved, I feel like a dork. Guys barely talk to me, and I’m not in my rightful place in the social hierarchy. Should I give it time or accept where I am?
Dear Miss Popularity,
I’m sorry it’s been a rocky transition. Instead of thinking in terms of popularity, work on making a good friend or two. Don’t wait for others to initiate conversations. Say hi, dole out compliments, and sign up for clubs and activities.
Are there other new kids you can get to know? Reach out to them by inviting a few to go bowling or to a concert. And, if at all possible, plan a visit with old friends during holiday break.
