LIFE
Dear Carol
I want a BF, but my mom always says no
I’m 13. I get good grades, and I’m responsible. So why won’t my mom let me have a boyfriend?
Dear Mom Says No,
Some parents have a hard time watching their little girls turn into teenagers. Others want to make sure their daughters don’t get obsessed with boys and give up everything else in their lives. Still others get understandably worried that a BF who smokes or drinks or gets bad grades might influence their daughters.
Rather than arguing in the abstract, keep making friends with girls and guys. If a certain boy becomes important to you, talk to your mom about why you like him. Invite him over so she can meet him. As you become more and more mature, your mom will become more and more comfortable with all this.
