Whiten your teeth with these simple hacks
Everyone knows the struggle of figuring out how to smile for pics without showing yellow teeth for an Insta-worthy selfie. Not to mention that having a vibrant smile plays a major role in your confidence. But thanks to our morning cups of coffee and not-so-great brushing habits, our teeth certainly take a beating...and get stained.
There are tons of whitening products in stores that claim to work overnight but unfortunately, a lot of them are harmful to your teeth's enamel and strength. Instead, here are a few natural ways to keep your teeth looking whiter and brighter without any dangerous side effects.
Baking soda + lemon juice
This combination sounds gross, we know! But brushing your teeth with baking soda after each meal is perfect for a total mouth cleanse. Simply add lemon juice (which acts as a natural bleach) to a couple teaspoons of baking soda, then leave the paste on your teeth for 1 minute before rinsing. This DIY is a perfect home remedy for yellow or stained teeth.
Strawberries
Turns out, many celebrities actually use strawberries to whiten their teeth. Berries are packed with antioxidants that can improve the health of your teeth. Other foods like apples and pineapples help improve the overall strength as well.
Coconut oil
Just when you thought you knew every use of coconut oil, here comes a natural teeth whitener. It's simple: Just put a spoonful of coconut oil in your mouth and swish it around for 5-10 minutes. It's also great for cleaning your gums as well.
Apple cider vinegar
Gargling a spoonful of this before you brush your teeth will help kill bacteria and remove stains. You can also rub the vinegar directly on your teeth for 1 minute, then rinse well for best results.
Not all store-bought products are bad for your chompers, either. If you prefer using an actual whitening treatment as opposed to a natural solution, we love POPWHITE Smile. It's a toothpaste and oral rinse combo that is 100 percent peroxide-free and uses color correction to eliminate stains.
