3 steps to taking the perfect nap
Step #1
Do this: Write down everything you need to do post-nap
Here’s why: The easiest way to stop the parade of worries before they start is to write down everything you need to get done, and then forget about it for the 15 minutes you need to refresh. Trust us, this one works.
Step #2
Do this: Set an alarm—then silence your sweeties
Here’s why: Sick of jolting awake every two minutes to check the clock? Yeah, we bet. Avoid that by setting an alarm on your cell phone. Set the ringer as loud as you dare to make sure you wake up (like you need something else to worry about, right?), double check the time (giving yourself 15 to 25 minutes to nap is ideal) and set your cell to “silent except for alarm” so your sweeties don’t accidentally disrupt your snooze.
Step #3
Do this: Get comfortable
Here’s why: It can be tough to get cozy enough to fall asleep in a foreign environment, but sometimes that’s exactly what you need to do. If you’re in transit or sitting around at a sporting event all day, try bringing along a pillow or blanket from home that you can cuddle up with. If you’re stuck at your desk in study hall, do your best to arrange your arms and school supplies in a manner that blocks out the light, and try to get as warm and relaxed as possible.
Happy napping!
