Could Coke cause cancer?

Coke and Pepsi are changing the way they make their signature products. Now before you freak out about your fave bevs tasting different than they always have, the two soda companies assure the public that their drinks will still taste the same. So what is changing? Nothin’ big. They’re just removing an ingredient that could cause cancer.
Yeah, you read that right: Carcinogens have been lurking in your cola for years. Scientists say that the caramel coloring companies including Coke and Pepsi use in various soft drinks has been found to be carcinogenic in large quantities. While the duo has argued that the additive is completely safe in the minute amount found in their sodas, some lawmakers aren’t budging. California officials have decreed that unless Coke an Pepsi change their recipes to eliminate the carcinogen, the state would slap a warning on cans and bottles telling consumers that what they’re drinking could cause cancer.
Yikes! Luckily for us, Coke and Pepsi are indeed changing the formulas to reflect this ruling. But that doesn’t mean you should feel free to guzzle cola 24/7. Studies have shown that consumption of soft drinks can lead to obesity and diabetes—definitely not diseases you want to deal with, dearies! We’re not saying you have to cut it out completely, but to stay healthy and fit, try to save sodas for special occasions and sip water, juice, tea and milk every day.
