Think outside the box
“My family goes ‘letterboxing’ after we open gifts. Letterboxes are hidden in parks all over the country (see letterboxing.org). We get clues and search for them every year. It’s a cool way to see nearby parks and get some exercise after a big meal.” – Lauren F., 17
Go green
“At holiday dinners, I try not to have more than two servings. I always make sure I have bigger portions of veggies than anything else. And I try to leave the cookies for Santa!” – Rose H., 13
Bundle up and have a blast
“I love to ice skate. I skate all year, but it seems more special in the winter. Right before the holidays, we hand out fliers to remind everyone to come to the ice rink. My friends and I sell hot cocoa at the skating center and donate the money we make to a soup kitchen. It’s a good feeling to help people out, and ice skating is really good exercise. And, when you invite your friends, it’s loads of fun!” – Kara H., 12
It all adds up
