Filled with guilt and loneliness from lack of contact with her friends, Clementine Williams thinks ‘a summer in exile’ is all that awaits when she joins her nosy parents and bothersome li’l sis for a summer on the sea. Clem struggles with raging emotions, from guilt to anger, as she strives to deal with her drama-filled past by writing and re-writing a letter to her ex-BFF.

Overwhelmed and consumed with her own problems, it takes a while for Clem to allow herself to be a friend again. And when she becomes closer with the sailing cutie, she learns James has some difficult problems of his own. With his help, Clem finds closure in writing Amanda an honest, thoughtful letter, and learns that her friendship–and love life–may not be so broken after all.
