The Real Deal on Hand Washing
It’s not your imagination: Hand sanitizer is absolutely everywhere. But a recent story on CNN.com reported washing your hands with soap and water (for about 20 seconds) is actually a better way to get rid of bacteria than squirting on a sanitizing gel.
If there’s no soap and water on hand, a gel that’s 65-90% alcohol is the best way to stop the spread of germs. Make sure to cover hands completely, ‘cause the sanitizer won’t deactivate the virus unless they come in contact with each other. Use the gel a few times a day to help stay healthy during the flu season!
