Does A Body Good

Mom was right when she made you finish that glass of milk. New research shows that lack of Vitamin D (the vitamin found in milk) can lead to high blood pressure and high blood sugar in teens, according to the Associated Press.

Vitamin D is best known for making your bones strong but experts say they found other benefits in teens they studied who had enough of the vitamin in their systems, like a lower risk for heart disease.

Doctors suggest getting the recommended amount of Vitamin D (400 units daily or about four cups of milk) by spending just 15 minutes outside in the sunlight a few times a week and eating Vitamin D-rich foods like milk and fish. And if you're not getting enough with sunlight and food, pediatricians suggest taking a vitamin. But talk to your doc before you start taking any supplements, ok?

Blog it out...do you think you're getting enough Vitamin D?
