Can You Hear Me Now? The Truth About Hearing Loss in Teens
Turn down those iPods, girlies. According to a new study published in The Journal of the American Medical Association, one in five teenagers now suffer from at least a slight loss of hearing.
The study found that in recent years slight hearing loss has increased by thirty percent, and greater hearing loss, or "mild hearing loss," has increased as well.
The scary part? Many teens may not even notice if their hearing has been affected. Turns out, the music you listen to, whether on an MP3 player or blasting at a concert, may be dangerously loud. Avoid cranking that dial to eleven and talk to your doc if you think this is a prob for you.
