Girl Talk: Fickle Friendships
I have a big problem. This is my last year of middle school before high school and my friends have all changed into girly-girls who only obsess over make-up and expensive clothing. I don't shop at these places or care about all this stuff. And since I don't, they think I am a nerd and don't like me anymore. What was an awesome friendship is now a broken friendship. What should I do? It is a horrible way to spend my last year with my awesome buds. They are just so different. What to do?'

Hey girlie~
It's really tough to face the reality that some people change over time, even your bestest buds. Just because they've decided to take a different path from you by becoming "girly-girls," wearing make-up and buying expensive clothes, doesn't change the fact that you guys were once on the same boat. They are obviously not good "friends" if they decide not to like you because you aren't a die-hard shopaholic.
You should try talking to them about the situation. It would be such a waste to throw away friendships because of miscommunication. Tell them your side and if they won't accept it, then you don't need to waste more time with them.
It'll be tough knowing that your "friends" have changed on you, so you should try and get to know other people at school that share similar interests and like doing what you do. This way, you can have a blast during your last year of middle school AND enter high school with awesome friends who will have your back no matter what.
Always,
Sharon
