Three Cheers for Gloriana

If you’ve caught Taylor Swift on her FEARLESS 2009 summer tour, chances are you’ve already heard Gloriana.
The quartet—consisting of brothers Tom and Mike Gossin, Rachel Reinert and Cheyenne Kimball—has been opening for the country princess since April, and will stay on the tour until its end in October. But it gets even better. Growing from a Gossin duo in 2007 to the full-fledged four-member group it is now, Gloriana will release its debut album August 4.
The name of one of the band’s members Cheyenne Kimball might sound familiar, and it’s because you probably do know her. She starred in a self-titled MTV reality show that chronicled her life as a rising star, and released a solo album a few years back. And, yes, she’s even graced the cover of GL (October/November ’06 to be exact). Cheyenne saw Gloriana, as a three-piece, perform at a concert last year and asked the band if they wanted to jam. The four meshed so well that she joined the group soon after.
What’s so great about Gloriana? They’re a band that true country fans can embrace and pop radio listeners can also seamlessly add to their playlists. The group’s talent is strikingly apparent by the first few songs on the album. Four-part harmonies are one of Gloriana’s specialties, and the opening song “How Far Do You Wanna Go?” proves it. The emotion in all of the songs is undoubtedly genuine, and the contrast between male and female voices adds an interesting dynamic.
“Wild at Heart,” the band’s current single, is the definition of a feel-good song. It’s impossible to listen without a smile crawling across your face. Another one of our faves is “All The Things (That Mean The Most),” a beautiful and powerful track that heavily features Rachel and Cheyenne’s vocal talents. We think that Gloriana has a very promising future career ahead of them! Do you?
Be sure to check out Gloriana’s debut album when it lands in stores Tuesday, August 4, then let us know your thoughts!
