GLs Guide to being green: Shop 'n' save

Earth Day festivities are just around the bend! Check out 77 big and little ways you can help save the planet with a week-long DO list. Every little bit counts!
DAY 3: Shop n’ Save

1. Eat organic. Organic farms follow strict guidelines for water and soil conservation to keep our earth lookin’ pretty. Not to mention ya don’t get harmful pesticides and fertilizers with every bite. Eww!

2. Kick your meat lovin’ meals to the curb once a week. The livestock industry is the leading source for water pollution and fuels massive amounts of greenhouse gases to the air.

3. Buy eco-friendly, sustainably-made or recycled clothes:

4. Raid mom’s closet. Ask you mom is she has any cool threads she’s thinking about trashin’. Think anyone else has mom’s super-fab sequined dress circa 1986?

5. Swap gear with your besties. Have tons of threads ya just don’t wear anymore? So do your girls! Get together and host a clothing swap par-tay!

6. Buy accessories made all natural:

7. Before ya hit the big department stores, check out your local thrift store for fab finds.

8. Buy beauty products with all or mostly organic ingredients:

9. Stop paying for packaging. Buy in bulk to avoid buying more trash. Opt for 2-in-1 products, larger sizes or refills.

10. Buy green friendly bedding for your room:

11. Be a downloadin’ diva. Pickin’ up albums and movies off sites like iTunes and Netflix saves you and the environment from lots o’ trash.
