Girl Talk: Pinching Pennies
I have 2 weeks to raise $50 dollars in order to buy my parents gifts. I am under 16 so I don't think I can get a job. Any ideas? It's urgent. Thanx :)'

Broke babe,
What a bummer to be penniless during the season of giving! Even if you are old enough to get a job in your state, it might be too late to start one – you wouldn't get your paycheck in time for holiday shopping. But don't fret baby doll, there are lots of things you can do to earn some quick cash!
Here's a few faves…
Babysitting
Tried and true, babysitting remains one of the best ways to make a quick buck. During this busy time, lots of parents are looking for some extra help while they sneak out to do some last-minute shopping or attend holiday celebrations. If you live in a neighborhood, type up a quick holiday-themed flyer advertising your services. Be sure to include your name, contact info and anything special about yourself (being CPR certified is a HUGE plus for parents – if you're not, check with your local hospital or YMCA, they usually have regular certification classes). Hint – attach a business card with a magnet on it to your flyer, that way parents keep your info on their fridge and will be sure to call you whenever they need a sitter. Even if you don't live in a neighborhood, pass out the flyers to families you know with small children. Be sure to keep it safe though, and don't give them to people you don't know.
Cleaning
Ok, Ok, I know that the "C" word is not one you gals like to hear, but when your wallet's empty, you really can't complain. Offering to rake leaves or shovel snow from a neighbor's driveway is a great way to make a quick buck. Also, since everyone is so busy preparing for the holidays, sometimes the housework can get neglected – until the last minute, when it's a rush for the vacuum. Help give party-throwers some extra prep time by doing the dirty work for them.
Yard Sale
Well, you might have to hold it inside instead of on the lawn, but you'd be surprised by the amount of bargain-hunters who will come a-knocking early on a Saturday morning. Suggest having a yard sale to your parents and offer to do all the work – all they have to do is pick out what they're willing to sell. If you organize all of the goods, tag everything with prices and do the advertising, you'll stand a pretty good chance of being allowed to keep most of the profits. Figure out the deets with the rents and get to selling!
Happy money-making,
♥ Alli
