Five things you'll love about Doug Brochu

A new season of Sonny With A Chance premieres Sunday, March 14, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on the Disney Channel. Are you excited?!

We headed to L.A. to chat with the show’s ever so loveable 19-year-old Doug Brochu, who plays Grady Mitchell on the series.

While we sure know a lot about Grady (he’s one of the funniest of the So Random! clan, is BFF with Nico Harris, is wacky and always up for eating), what’s Doug like in real life? From his crazy adventurous side to his frozen obsession, we got the dirt just for YOU.

He hearts his cargo shorts. “[Grady and I]  both share an affinity for cargo shorts—especially ones with big pockets. You can store anything in there.”

He has an itch for adventure. “I went to the iFly [indoor skydiving] thing at Universal CityWalk. At first, it looks kind of daunting and you’re like, ‘What do you do when you go in there? What if you flip out and can’t do it,’ but I had it under control. My dad got a picture and there’s just this pure look of joy on my face while I’m flying.”

He’s a total prankster. Just like how Grady and Nico are always up to trouble on the show, Doug and Brandon Mychal Smith (who plays Nico) take the mayhem backstage, too:

“Me and Brandon like to scare people. Ortho was this really creepy, giant mannequin thing that Allisyn [Ashley Arm] made. What you would do is stick it in somebody’s dressing room so when they’d come in in the morning, they’d get scared. That person would then sign Ortho, and then it’s off to the next person. Sterling [Knight] wasn’t happy when we did it to him.”

He’s a fro-yo fanatic. “[My friends and I] are big on Menchie’s. It’s a frozen yogurt place. When we decide it’s a Menchie’s night, they like run for cover in frozen yogurt land. I get the tart [flavor], and it comes in this cup, which is self-serve. I’m kind of a perfectionist so what I like to do is swirl it around and make a cone so there’s a big hollow area, which I fill with fruity pebbles and strawberries.”

He’s a total sweetie—and hates meanies. “I don’t like it when people are mean to me, or to anybody in general, for no apparent reason. That annoys me.”

Be sure to catch Doug and the rest of the So Random! gang when Sonny With A Chance returns to the Disney Channel this March.
