How to do nothing the *right* way

We bet over the last few weeks you've heard a lot of people saying that they're doing absolutely nothing all day. While this isn't the time for packed social calendars, it doesn't mean you have to waste the days away. Here's how you can master the art of doing nothing *the right way*.

1. Get off social media

Find yourself spending hours on Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter and TikTok? Make it a goal to stay off social media for at least part of the day. Set a schedule that feels right for you, then focus on other things. You can finish that book you've been meaning to read, learn how to play guitar on YouTube or doodle in your fave notebook.

2. Get outside

As long as you're smart about it, going outside can really refresh you right now. You can do yoga in your yard, go for a long walk while following social-distancing practices or just sit on your front steps with a family member and a big glass of lemonade.

3. Learn something new

Instead of watching Friends for the third time, try watching something new! Bonus points if it's also something that's educational—you can start by searching the documentaries tab on Netflix or the superb wildlife docs on Disney+.

4. Spend time with an old friend...virtually

We bet you're in constant contact with your besties, but what about that long-lost camp bud or the distant cousin that you really hit it off with but don't see too often? Set up a FaceTime or Zoom hang and reconnect.

5. Start a journal

Journaling can be a great way to organize your thoughts and feelings, plus it can be so much fun! You can start a bullet journal and keep track of everything from your fitness goals to your bucket list, or start a secret journal where you write about your thoughts and feelings.
