Travel boredom busters that will save your vacay

Summer’s officially here which means vacation season is in full swing. Everybody seems to be jumping in the car for a family roadtrip or jetting off to tropical paradises. Like us, you’re probably pumped for your vacay, but maybe not so much for the ride/flight there. Worry not because we have few tips to make those long hours of traveling a little less boring.

1. Reading galore.

Yeah, yeah. We get it. It’s summer. School just ended. Why keep your nose in a book? Well, not only will it keep you engaged, but it’s healthy to keep your brain active and fresh during the summer months. It doesn’t have to be any heavy reading. It could be the newest Sarah Dessen novel, Saint Anything, or maybe the next book in that trilogy that you forgot you loved. Maybe a book isn’t what you want? Pick up some new magazines (like GL’s August/September release… hint, hint). If you’re in for a long holiday, take a few reading options to keep you from burning out.

2. Need a well-deserved pamper session?

You have time to kill while traveling, so why not make use of it? Although it might feel a bit weird whipping out a full sheet mask during a flight or car ride, it’s to your benefit and, frankly, other people probably don’t care. We suggest using a nice charcoal mask, like our fave Origins Clear Improvement Mask, $4-$26 , or this nifty When Travelmate Sheet Mask, $7. Both have travel ready sizes and packaging that make self-pampering easy!

3. Watch those movies you’ve been meaning to catch up on.

Whether you’re in the car or on a plane, movies definitely help pass the time. Most airlines have movies and TV shows available to watch, so check those out before you rent anything. They usually have some pretty new releases, too. Take a look, pick something interesting, and you’ll be at your destination in no time.  Maybe watch a few of our recent faves like the Maze Runner: Scorch Trials or My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2.

4. Sleep!

This works for those long haul flights and car rides when even music, movies, and books can’t pass the time. This especially works for vacations that won’t be in your current time zone. Say your flight takes off from NYC at 6 PM and you’re headed to London. Well, it’s nearly midnight in London, so getting some beauty rest will not only pass the time, but it will help you adjust to time zone change! This will majorly help with jet lag. Trust us.  And maybe invest in a cute eye mask like this one from Wildfox.

Ty these out on your travels and see if those long hours go by a little faster!.

What do you do to banish travel boredom?
