LIFE
Dear Carol
I'm tired of butting heads with my mom
My mom and I have been butting heads like every day and it affects everybody, even my dad. Any tips so we can stop fighting and fix the family?
Dear Head Butters,
I applaud you for wanting to lower the tension in your home. Your mom is probably stressed and tired too, so try try try to get yourself to be nicer to her, which, in turn, will lead to her being nicer to you. Can you be a smidge more helpful than usual with cooking or cleaning? Can you leave a sweet note under her pillow or send an email saying you’re sorry about all the arguing? Can you give her a compliment on something, anything? Can you address a specific issue in a measured and reasonable away? If you set a better tone at home, this will inspire everyone else to act friendlier, and will be a win-win for everyone.
