#ComeAsYouAre: Why it's better to be real than perfect

It's National Eating Disorder Awareness Week and this year's theme is summed up in one simple (but super important) hashtag: #ComeAsYouAre. Aka you are enough just the way you are, flaws and all.

But sometimes believing that in today's world, where our Instagrams are filled with pictures of "perfect" people living "perfect" lives (you know, that fashion blogger with the amaze abs who's always traveling to some exotic beach), can be really hard.

Which is why NEDA teamed up with Instagram to launch the #ComeAsYouAre movement this week to remind us that our stories, our lives and ourselves don't have to look like they came from a magazine or off a Pinterest board. Who you are, no matter how "imperfect" or messy it may be, is valuable and worthy in its own way, trust.

So whether you share your own personal struggle with an eating disorder or post a makeup-free selfie, don't be afraid to be brave on Insta this week (and always, obvs). Be vulnerable. Be open. Be honest. Be unfiltered. And most importantly, be *you.*

Peep the video below to listen to six super empowering stories from real girls (and guys!), then join in on Instagram with your own praise-hand-worthy post if you'd like. Or you can simply browse the hashtag for endless inspo.

Because if #ComeAsYouAre is the new #flawless, we're 100 percent okay with that.

We want to hear from you! Send us your weirdest body questions here (seriously, we'll answer anything!) and it just might get featured.
