5 summer activities so fun they won't even feel like a workout
Summer workouts got you down? Ditch the gym this season for some summer activities that will be fun, challenging and feel nothing like a workout.
1. Swimming
You already spend all your time at the pool, so why not get a little exercise from it? Get to the pool a little earlier than usual (during lap time) and swim a few laps before you get your tan on. Swimming is awesome cardio, but it also tones your arms and abs. Plus, it’s the perfect way to cool down from the summer heat.
2. Hiking
Grab a group of friends and go for a hike this summer. Pick a trail close by, lace up your best hiking boots and explore the woods. Hiking counts as cardio, but it also builds muscle as you climb over rocks, trek up hills or anything else a trail might throw at you. Conquering a trail will feel more like a bonding sesh with your babes than a workout.
3. Cycling
Send your best friend a text to meet you at your house and take a bike ride together. Bike to your favorite store, restaurant or to an awesome park to get a little (more) fresh air. You’ll be surprised by the sweat you work up just by riding around for fun!
4. Outdoor Yoga
Yoga involves a lot of stretching and slow movements, but it truly is a workout. Yoga engages your core and what will feel like every muscle in the body as you work to maintain your pose and your balance. Take an outdoor class to spend some time in the sunshine, or do it in your backyard with a YouTube tutorial. There are tons of diffrent styles and moves, so you're bound to find one you enjoy doing with a litle trial and error.
5. Rock Climbing
Rock climbing is such a fun experience that allows you push your limits and face your fears and it obviously requires a lot of strength. Through rock climbing you build muscle, but it also keeps you focused on your next move; so you don’t even realize it’s a workout. Invite your girl friends and turn it into group activity! Check gyms and rec centers in your area to find a climbing wall nearest you.
