Why this mineral will be *super* trendy in 2017

 

From Vitamin Water to fortified *everything*, we are constantly reminded how important it is to get our daily dose of vitamins. But, what about minerals? They're just as important, especially when it comes to magnesium. But almost half of all Americans aren't getting nearly enough...which could explain not-so-great health issues like insomnia, headaches and cramps.

There are a lot of awesome benefits of magnesium, including increased bone and muscle strength, boosted brainpower, more energy and a healthier immune system. Not to mention, the mineral helps your bod cope with stress better (so studying for that chem test while also making it to your BFF's birthday bash will be a whole lot more manageable) and leads to a seriously sweet snooze sesh because it activates the receptors in your brain that turn those racing thoughts off each night.

Making sure you meet the recommended daily amount of magnesium is surprisingly easy. It's found in foods like dark leafy greens, edamame, avocados and even chocolate, or you can take a supplement or use magnesium oil. Plus, if you're a girl who loves bubble baths (and who doesn't?!), soaking in Epsom salts allows your body to absorb the mineral's healing powers, too.
