Spiral Bites
This is the world’s easiest appetizer – a good munchie to have on hand when you’re watching a movie video with a friend or two.
What You’ll Need: Serves 3-4
2 white or whole wheat flour tortillas, any size (Or, look for the colored tortillas such as sun-dried tomato.)
Spread of your choice:
Flavored cream cheese such as veggie, herb-garlic, or strawberry from the bagel store, red pepper hummus, soft goat cheese or cream cheese and a jar of basil pesto; you get the idea
What You’ll Do:
1. Lay a tortilla on a cutting board. Smear about 2 tablespoons of your spread evenly onto the tortilla, stopping when you are 1/4 inch from the edge.
2. Roll up the tortilla tightly. Starting at one end, slice the tortilla into one-inch pieces until you reach the end of the tortilla. You’ll have a bite-sized snack with a spiral design. Stick a toothpick into the top of each spiral bite so that they don’t fall apart.
Tools:
Table or butter knife for spreading
Cutting board, paring knife
