6 easy ways to better your beauty sleep
Sometimes sleep can seem more like a reward for making it through
a crazy day than an essential part of your…beauty routine? Listen up ladies,
beauty sleep isn’t just a cute saying or an excuse to hide under the covers for
a few more hours; it plays a huge part in feeling and looking your
best. According to recent studies, other people can actually notice if you seem
sleep deprived and find you less attractive. Here are six tips to help you
hunnies out:
1. Start a habit
Allow yourself 8 hours of sleep per night, no more, no less. The laziness and
grogginess you feel from lack of sleep actually occurs when you over-sleep too.
Once you get into this routine, you’ll fall asleep much easier as your body
becomes accustomed to a steady cycle.
2. Ditch the devices
Avoid bringing your laptop into bed with you--or your cell phone.
Your bed should be a place to relax, not worry about checking e-mails, social
media or squeezing in one last text. If your head is hittin’ the pillow with
your cell in your hand, chances are you’ll stay awake much longer.
3. Nix the all-nighters
Feeling
a sense of pride that you were up till the wee hours and are still
walking the next day is a mistake many girls make. Sure, you may feel fine, but
actually you’re less alert, more prone to accidents and you risk throwing off
your entire sleep cycle. Eek!
4. Cut the cola consumption
Late night snacking is something we’re all guilty of every once in
a while. But the sugar and caffeine you consume before bed prevents your
digestive system from working properly and can leave you restless and unable to
fall asleep. Another reason to kick the can.
5. Write it down
If
your main issue with getting a good night’s sleep is too many thoughts rushing
through your head, try keeping a journal at your bedside. Record your thoughts
as they come to you instead of building up tension in your tired body.
6. Say it with us…Relax!
Try taking a hot shower before bed to relax
your muscles and ease stress. Use a lavender
scented body wash—the soothing aroma is linked to starting that sense of
sleepiness.
