5 fall DIYs to help you decorate on a budget

There's no better way to welcome spooky szn than decorating your space—transforming it from breezy summer bliss to all things witchy. But when budgets are tight, that's when a few dreamy DIYs can come in. Luckily, we know a thing or two about cheap-but-still-insanely-adorable room decor. So light your fave fall candle and prepare to get crafty...

Sliced orange garland

Can you say kitchen witch? This fun garland only requires three items: oranges, twine or yarn and an oven or air fryer.

Cut your oranges into thin slices, pat dry with a paper towel and pop them in the oven at 250 degrees for 3 hours (flipping every 30 minutes), or until the pulp is no longer sticky.

Once the oranges are dried out, thread the twine or yarn through the orange slices and hang them anywhere to add a witchy vibe to your space. You can even use them as of-the-earth suncatchers.

Floating witch hats

The witching hour is here! For this project, tape a battery tea light to fishing line and thread the line through the top of a witch hat. Use the rest of the line to hang the hat from the ceiling (try a Command strip for damage-free hanging). Spooky vibes, right this way.

Shimmer potions

Fire burn and cauldron bubble: Now you can create a potion for any intent. Search for unique bottles at your local antique or craft store. Fill the bottles with water, a few drops of food coloring and a hint of baking luster dust.

Then, secure the cap and shake the bottle to reveal a whimsical swirl of color. Line the bottles on your windowsill for a bewitching addition to any room.

Macrame ghost

Dollar Tree, here we come! All you need is nautical cotton rope or macrame cord, a piece of cardboard or foam, hot glue and black felt or fabric.

Cut a half-circle out of the cardboard or foam to use as your base. (Follow the tutorial above to see how to drape the rope or cord on your base to create the ghost's body.)

Fray the end of the cord and cut eyes and a mouth out of the fabric, then hot glue them onto the ghost's body.

Pumpkin pom-pom garland

Anyone can do this one! Grab some orange yarn, a tapestry needle, a little bit of twine and a pom-pom maker

Follow the pom-pom maker directions, wrapping the yarn around the maker until it's covered. After you cut the outer edges and tie a secure knot around the pom-pom, make the stems and hot glue them to the pom-poms. Thread a long piece of yarn through the middle of each pom-pom, keeping them several inches apart from one another.
