Celebrate the last days of summer with a backyard summer camp

Most of us have been tucked away in our homes and summer camp has now become a distant memory. For some of us, our annual camp trip was an escape from reality and a way to connect with new faces or to try new activities before school starts.

We're sure you're thinking of some throwback memories of your fave summer camp experience. What if we told you we had a way for you to relive your sunny summer memories, like those yummy s'mores by the campfire? Well, now you certainly can! Grab your fam and don't forget the key ingredient—creativity!

1. Prepare for the ultimate summer camp experience

Bringing your *fave* camp memories to life is easier than you think. Grab a duffle bag and fill it with items such as toiletries, extra clothes, your favorite book for downtime, maybe a camera to capture the craziest moments and (of course!) a sleeping bag or a tent, if you want to go all out.

Once you're all packed, designate a camp leader who can oversee all your activities and help you stay on track throughout the trip. This can be a parent or even a sibling. Lastly, don't forget to pack your smiles! Your summer camping trip awaits.

2. Break a sweat

Host a field day that features various activities where you'll compete for first place to win a special prize.

Try a fun balloon pop relay race! Whoever pops the most balloons is a champion. If you really want to break a sweat, bust out the ropes for a vicious game of tug-of-war.

Is it really a field day if you don't include the sack race? All you need is a pillowcase, or scarves to tie your legs together. Whoever can touch the other side of the backyard and make it back to the starting point first is one step closer to the winning prize.

 3. Unleash your inner artist

Arts and crafts are a perfect outlet to be creative and express yourself.  Grab your sibling or a family member and get artsy!

4. Host a talent show

Have a hidden talent you've been wanting to show off? Maybe you're the next Beyoncé or Simone Biles! Put together a show where everyone's talents are on display.

Spend the morning planning for the big event. Make tickets to invite family members, create an itinerary that lists all the performances in order and make some fun snacks for intermission. If you want to take your show to the next level, include a microphone, speakers and some props. What talents will you show off?

5. Make s'mores by the campfire

We had to save the best tip for last! To recreate the iconic s'mores experience all you'll need is your oven.  Before you begin, have your designated camp leader present, since you are dealing with heat. Follow this step by step tutorial and enjoy!

Once you have created this masterpiece, gather around a circle at night with flashlights and tell your favorite spooky stories!

Now you all have the tools to enjoy summer camp without leaving your home. What are you waiting for? Start packing and get to camping!
