Wanna give the best present ever for Mother’s Day, but don’t have the cash to buy something fab? No worries – putting your personal touch on whatever gift you give is the all-time best way to show mom just how much you care. She’ll go crazy for a one-of-a-kind gift with your love and effort behind it. Read on for some of our fave DIY gift ideas!
Scrapbook
A go-to project for any rainy day or special occasion, scrapbooking is a fun way to keep memories close to your heart!
This year, make mom a scrapbook documenting your childhood and growing up with her by your side. It might sound obvious, but be sure to include plenty of pics of the two of you together. Decorate each page with a theme and use lots of bright colors. She’ll be able to flip through and remember all of the great times you’ve shared.

What’s better than giving mom free passes to anything she wants?
Cut paper into strips that will act as “tickets” for your gift. Decorate each one with a fancy, colorful border and design. Then, write in the middle what each pass is good for: a day where you’ll wash all the dishes, five loads of laundry she doesn’t have to do, a foot massage, a day at the mall, control of the TV remote for a night…you get the picture. You can even go warm and fuzzy and add free hugs or convos – redeemable any time, of course!
Mom will love the time you spent on this one and will appreciate the break from her daily chores.
Potted Plant
Give mom a gift that keeps on giving: a plant so she can watch as it grows!
Grab a small pot from a garden store (terracotta pots work best because they’re smooth and will hold paint really well) and use paint to decorate the pot. Accent with beads, ribbons, pom-poms and glitter to spice things up. Then, fill with potting soil and plant a few seeds of mom’s fave flower. Make sure you water them daily until you give it to her!
