How to approach a girl you like if you aren't sure about her sexuality
Maybe you've just met a girl with sweet brown hair and a pretty smile that you *really* like, but the catch is you don't know her sexuality. Asking someone bluntly to go on a date isn't everyone's style (fear of rejection = so real). This can be even more complicated when their sexuality isn't explicit, and it's important not to assume too much. Say goodbye to pacing around your room wondering if she likes girls, and say hello to the best guide for approaching her.
Ask about queer TV shows and movies
Ofc, many allies of the LGBTQ+ community watch queer content as well. Still, if a girl is *super* passionate about Casey and Izzie's relationship on Atypical, she might be more than an ally. Ask her about the new season of Killing Eve or if she's seen Love, Simon. Watch out for her reactions and how she responds.
Subtly flirt with her
Although this option may seem blunt, it definitely can work. Flirting does not need to be as direct as complimenting or teasing your crush romantically. In this case, it can just be going the extra step to ask about her interests and hobbies. By doing this, you show you care, but you also get to know her a bit better.
Drop hints about your sexuality
If you feel comfortable doing so, mention your sexuality to her. Saying an actress or musician you have a celebrity crush on can allow her to share her preferences. Additionally, wearing a pride flag pin or bracelet can also give her insight into your sexuality so that she can potentially make the first move.
Spend time with her friends
The people you surround yourself with say a lot about you. By getting to know her friends better, they might have hints to drop about her sexuality. And, if she hangs around a lot of queer people, there's a good chance she's more than just an ally.
Trust your intuition
Above all else, listen to what your gut is telling you. It's better to try and put yourself out there rather than never make a move and regret it. If you think there's a chance she might be into you, ask her out for boba or to a movie. Whatever you end up choosing, it'll all work out.
