The best way(s) to ask your crush to the school dance

School dances are simply *so* fun. What's not to love about dressing up, getting glam with your crew and dancing the night away? If you have a school dance coming up (hoco szn is almost upon us, folks) and have your eye on a special someone to bring along, we've got you covered. Read on to find six unique ways to ask your crush to the school dance.

1. Make them a poster

@oliviarodrigo

A poster is a classic example of an adorable, heartfelt "proposal". Whether you just get straight to the point (see Olivia's inspo above) or come up with the punniest play on words, you can't go wrong. Add some color, stickers and maybe some bubble letters for the cutest crafty ask.

2. Write them a card

If a poster feels too ~public~ (we're looking at you, introverts), then a card is your next best option. You can keep it simple or add some extra personalization to it with a tiny note—signed with a heart, ofc. Fingers crossed they check yes!

3. Pop the question in person

@cartierting

Hear us out: We know straight up just asking your crush to a dance sounds like the most nerve wracking thing in the universe, but it's sometimes easier to communicate face-to-face—no elaborate schemes, no pre-planning, no fuss. Plus, being brave shows them you really care about getting to spend quality time with them. Bring it up while you're chatting in the hallway after school or before you part ways after the Friday football game. You got this!

4. Show off your art skills

If you're an amazing artist and want to show off your skills, then let your creativity do the talking. There are no limits when it comes to this one—you can paint, draw or even make a friendship bracelet. Giving them something they can have forever (a token of your ~affection~, if you will) is totally a memorable gesture and gives you a chance to impress them with your DIY skills.

5. Gift them their fave little treat

@momonatamada

Truth: You can't go wrong with surprise Starbucks/sweets/sugary goodness. Grab their fave bakery item, coffee drink or other tiny goodie on your way to school and write your big Q on the box or cup. The only thing sweeter than those pumpkin spice cake pops or heart-shaped cookies? How thoughtful you are, natch.

6. Make them a playlist

@girlofpapi

A playlist is *such* a cute-but-still-lowkey way to ask your crush to a dance. It costs nothing and is something they can always have queued to remind themselves of you. Create a cute cover collage photo, add your fave fall bops (and yes, maybe a love song...or two...or three) and slip your ask into the playlist name or description so they'll see it when they go to listen.
