Do I have to be a girly girl to get a guy?

I hang out with a bunch of girly girls. They are really nice, really squeamish, and I'm the bookworm of the group. It never bothered me except guys only seem to like the girls smothered in makeup. I thought that being more tomboyish would make me more approachable. Does the Harry Potter tee in the sea of pink (ewww) dresses stand out? (Excuse my hyperbole.)

His Answer: “Definitely! I love it when girls aren’t afraid to show who they truly are,” says Max G., 17. “I personally like girls that are unique and stand out, but with that being said, don’t dress a certain way just to try to be different. At the end of the day, I’m going to approach the girl that’s cute and confident; the amount of makeup or pink clothing doesn’t have anything to do with it.”

Decoded: Do you, girl! Guys are looking for confident cool girls, not fake followers. They want to approach the girls that are smiling and inviting. Sitting in a corner reading a book definitely won’t get guys coming up to you. But, showing that you’re interested and available will. Confidence is key.

Your Move: Let your personality and passions show through your outfit choices. If you’re into Harry Potter, show that you are a bookworm babe. Don’t let the girls covered in makeup intimidate you. But, if the usual guys seem to be going for those types of girls, venture out and find guys that have similar tastes as you. Trust us, you’ll be sure to find tons of Harry Potter heartthrobs.
