A Journey to the New World

Mem’s Story: After a long, dangerous and, at times, dreadfully boring journey across the Atlantic Ocean, Remember Patience Whipple, Mem for short, had finally arrived in the New World. Having only heard stories of the strange ‘feathered people’ that inhabit the rustic lands of America, Mem was determined to befriend the natives.
Her wish came true when she met Squanto, a young Native American, who helped Mem and her family face a year of trial, tragedy and thanksgiving.

The Winter of Red Snow

Abby’s Story: One frightfully cold morning, Abby and her sisters are awakened by the sound of General George Washington leading his men into the encampment at Valley Forge. Her backyard had now become home to hundreds of soldiers, as well as the illnesses they carried. Abby and her sisters try to help any way they can, until Ma and their newborn baby brother fall ill.
At first what seemed an exciting adventure to young Abby soon gave way to reveal the tremendous hardship, pain and unexpected blessing of the Revolutionary War.

Voyage on the Great Titanic

Margaret Ann’s Story: By a twist of fate, orphan Margaret Ann has been appointed maid to the rich Mrs. Carstairs and asked to accompany her as she travels to New York City aboard the luxurious Titanic. Thrilled for the chance to be reunited with her brother, who has been living in America, Margaret jumps at the opportunity.
Upon boarding, Margaret Ann falls for a handsome young steward named Robert. But little do they know that this great, unsinkable ship is destined for tragedy when it collides with a fateful iceberg.

The Fences Between Us

Piper’s Story: When Piper Davis’ big brother Hank enlisted in the U.S. Navy, all she could think was how proud she’d be to see him in his uniform. It wasn’t until that one fateful day in December when Piper’s perfect life in Seattle was rattled with explosions and bombings, rationings and blackouts, that it occurred to her—her brother, a soldier on the battleship Arizona stationed in Pearl Harbor—might never come home.
Not long after that, Piper soon learns the harsh and heartbreaking realities of living in a Japanese internment camp during World War II.
