Country music is *in*—here are the artists you need to know

With warmer temps and a coastal cowgirl aesthetic that's become the ultimate summer trend, there's no doubt that country music is having its moment right now—and we are so here for it. You just can't deny that country music has introduced us to some of the greatest voices, including Kelly Clarkson, Dolly Parton and Taylor Swift (duh!). And if you're into Taylor Swift's storytelling acoustic sets during the Eras Tour, you're bound to like country. Trust us.

So you're looking to update your playlist but have no idea where to start? We got you. Here are the female country artists whose music you need to be blasting all. summer. long.

Megan Moroney

Megan Moroney is a girl's girl. Whether she's singing about the perils of Instagram in "I'm Not Pretty" or detailing the drama of a trip to get her roots redone in "Hair Salon," Megan's songs are always *so* relatable. The Georgia-grown starlet has even dubbed herself as a "professional emo cowgirl," and honestly, same. Her first full-length album "Lucky" features both old and new faves, combining honkeytonk and heartbreak into 42 minutes of music. Megan sings to you like she's your best friend, opening up about the struggle to love yourself while laughing off haters just minutes later. There's just one qualification for being her BFF—root for the Georgia Bulldogs!

Songs to add to your playlist ASAP: Tennessee Orange, Girl in the Mirror, I'm Not Pretty

Lainey Wilson

Lainey Wilson brings flair to country music, both figuratively and literally. If you've seen any concert footage from her latest album, "Bell Bottom Country," you can catch Lainey belting her heart out in the *cutest* bejeweled flare pants (we want her whole closet, TBH). But her smash hit "Heart Like a Truck" is what's most representative of Lainey's unique spin on country music, highlighting the rugged beauty of a rough-and-tumble gal. With an unmatched style and signature southern drawl, you can't help but fall in love with her.

Songs to add to your playlist ASAP: Heart Like a Truck, Sayin' What I'm Thinkin'

Priscilla Block

Priscilla Block is a queen of pop country. Her self-love anthem, "Thick Thighs," first became popular on social media, and she hasn't stopped making music since. And while we love the passion you can feel in almost all of her music, we are most fond of Priscilla's ability to command an audience. She's unafraid to say it like it is, but always manages to have a good time. With an edgy style that bends the traditional barriers of country music, Priscilla is forging a new frontier. We can't wait to see what she does next.

Songs to add to your playlist ASAP: Just About Over You, Off the Deep End, Thick Thighs

Kacey Musgraves

Ever since she released the gloriously unbothered single "Follow Your Arrow" almost a decade ago, we've been obsessed with Kacey Musgraves. Her whimsical interpretation of the country sound has fueled fan-favorite works like Golden Hour, which won Album of the Year at the 2019 Grammy Awards. We love her playful lyricism (anyone remember "Space Cowboy"?), her affinity for Christmas music and her unquestionable taste in fashion (bc trust us, her Met Gala looks always serve). We're just waiting for that new album to come along, but it's a bit of a "Slow Burn." Get it?

Songs to add to your playlist ASAP: Happy & Sad, star-crossed, Butterflies, High Horse

Taylor Swift

Need we say more? Before there was Eras Tour Taylor, there was Nashville Taylor. With a guitar in hand, Taylor spent her early teens touring the Music City for gigs and a record deal, all while attending high school! And though it's been years since we first heard her acoustic smash hit "Tim McGraw," we can still feel the ever-present influence of country music in recent songs "betty" and "right where you left me."  And the best part? We'll get to revisit her country roots with Speak Now Taylor's Version. We can't wait for the album to be "Ours."

Songs you need to add to your playlist ASAP: Teardrops on My Guitar, Mean, Forever & Always, Dear John, Mine, Mary's Song (Oh My, My, My), the list goes on!
