5 football moments that will get you hyped for Super Bowl LI
Super Bowl Sunday is in *just* a few days and we are so excited to see the Patriots and Falcons go head-to-head. Football is a game with a pretty rich history, and it never fails to amaze fans (including us) with how many awesome things have happened in the game over the years. In honor of Super Bowl LI, we've rounded up some of the most remarkable football game changers below.
"The Catch" (aka the San Francisco 49ers' winning touchdown)
There were 58 seconds left in the 1982 NFC Championship game. The Dallas Cowboys had a 27-21 lead on the 49ers when quarterback Joe Montana changed the fate of the game. He passed the winning touchdown to wide receiver Dwight Clark, and the 49ers beat the Cowboys 28-27. According to Joe, he couldn't even see the end zone but knew where Dwight would be, as The Catch was a backup plan they practiced many times. Talk about a lucky shot!
When the Chicago Bears performed the Super Bowl Shuffle
Back in 1985, about a month before the Bears won Super Bowl XX, this awesome video was released. We're totally vibing on this song and love seeing these football stars show us their creative side. This just goes to show that *anyone* can dance (right?).
When the Jets unexpectedly dominated the Dolphins in the Monday Night Miracle
Entering the fourth quarter of the game, the Miami Dolphins had the New York Jets beat 30-7. Sports broadcaster Howard David said "...with a whole quarter to go, this game is over." Little did he know, the Jets would go on to score 30 points in the last quarter and send the game into overtime. Scoring three more, the Jets beat the Dolphins 40-37, landing the game a spot on the NFL Top 10 Comebacks. You can watch the *incredible* game highlights here.
Eli Manning's Super Bowl XLII winning touchdown
Widely regarded as the finest Super Bowl game, it's one that earned Eli Manning with the title of Super Bowl MVP. 97.5 million Americans watched as Manning threw the 13-yard touchdown pass, taking down the Patriots 17-14. The Giants were down by four with only 1 minute and 15 seconds left in the game when Eli, holding onto the ball for dear life, escaped from the grasp of three Patriots.
When the Dallas Cowboys ruled the mannequin challenge
We absolutely *love* seeing our faves try out the mannequin challenge, and the Cowboys did it pretty well (on an airplane, no less!). These star athletes gave it their all, and it made us LOL in the process.
